Vintage Indian Wedding

From booking timelines to shot lists and everything you need to ensure your wedding is photographed flawlessly, wherever in India it takes place.

We've photographed enough Hyderabad weddings to know exactly what separates couples who look back at their photos with complete joy from those who wish they'd done a few things differently. Almost always, the difference was in the planning, not the photographer's skill.

This checklist is what we walk every YellowRed Photography couple through. Save it, share it with your family, and use it as a living document as your big day approaches.

12+ Months Before the Wedding

  • Book your photographer and videographer first. Before the venue, before the caterer. Good wedding photographers in India book up 12–18 months in advance, especially for peak season (November–February) and popular destination wedding months. The best studios travel nationally, so competition is fierce regardless of your wedding city.

  • Align on style. Browse the studio's portfolio. Are the images documentary? Editorial? Bright and airy or moody and cinematic? Make sure the aesthetic resonates with you before signing.

  • Discuss package scope: Number of events covered, hours, team size, deliverables.

  • Review contract carefully: Check delivery timelines, cancellation policy, backup equipment policy.

6 Months Before the Wedding

  • Schedule your pre-wedding shoot. This isn't just for aesthetics. It's how your photographer learns your expressions, comfort levels, and chemistry as a couple.

  • Plan pre-wedding locations in consultation with your photographer. At YellowRed, we suggest locations based on your story, whether it's in Hyderabad, at your destination, or somewhere meaningful in between.

  • Begin your shot list. Think about: family groupings, must-have detail shots (jewellery, invitation card, footwear), ritual moments that matter most to your family.

  • Share family context: Is your grandmother attending? Is a relative coming from abroad? Flag emotionally important guests.

1 Month Before the Wedding

The Critical Pre-Wedding Month Checklist

  • Finalise your shot list and share with your lead photographer

  • Confirm all event timings and venue addresses with your photography team

  • Assign a family member as the "group photo coordinator", someone who knows who's who

  • Share the wedding programme / schedule so the team plans their positioning

  • Discuss lighting conditions: will there be candles? Overhead LEDs? Outdoor ceremonies?

  • Confirm backup plans for rain (especially for outdoor Hyderabad summer events)

  • Decide on a "details tray" and arrange your jewellery, shoes, invitation, and heirlooms for flat-lay shots

1 Week Before

  • Final walkthrough call with your photography team

  • Share the venue contact so your team can coordinate arrival and setup

  • Confirm outfits per event: The team will plan their colour grading around your palette

  • Set expectations with family about phones during the ceremony, as phones in guests' faces ruin professional shots

On the Wedding Day

  • Give your photographer 30–45 minutes of "detail time" before events begin, for décor, rings, outfit flat-lays

  • Build buffer time into your schedule because rushed photography produces rushed results

  • Have a trusted family member shepherd group photo sessions so precious couple time isn't eaten up organising relatives

  • Stay present. The most beautiful photographs come from real emotion, not from posing for the camera.

After the Wedding: What to Expect from YellowRed

Our post-production process is as considered as our shooting. After your wedding, you'll receive:

  • A curated online gallery (typically 500–800 images per event, professionally edited)

  • A cinematic wedding film (if booked), a 3–6 minute highlights + optional documentary cut

  • A private preview within 2–3 weeks, full delivery within 6–8 weeks

  • Album design consultation where we help you select the images and design a physical album

"The best wedding photographs happen when a couple trusts their photographer completely and focuses entirely on each other. Our job is to be invisible, until the moment we're not."
